2018 Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 is the bestselling truck in America. Quite frankly, the Ford F-150 continues to be one of the best-selling vehicles ever–and has been for decades. With the new model year, will the 2018 Ford F-150 live up to all of those expectations–and the excitement brought on by a diesel engine? Read on.

What’s new in the 2018 Ford F-150?

The 2018 model of the F-150 doesn’t turn the truck on its end with design changes, but it has made a laundry list of tweaks to its best-selling light-duty truck. You’ll notice the difference in the front grille, which now looks like the Super Duty trucks with the two bar design, as well as in the headlights, taillights, tailgates, and wheel design.

Of course, all the excitement is really about the changes in the engines. The 2018 Ford F-150 offers a new 3.3L V6 (which replaces the 3.5L V6) as well as a newly revised EcoBoost 2.7L V6 and 5.0L V8. But most people are genuinely amped about the introduction of a 3.0L V6 PowerStroke turbodiesel–but it’s not out yet.

Are Ford F-150s Good Trucks?

Ford was the very first American automobile company, and its been proving itself for more than 100 years. For the past 40 consecutive years, the F-150 has been the best selling full-size pickup. People buy trucks for capability and power, but they are increasingly using trucks for more tasks, like hauling family and creating a mobile office. The Ford F-150 offers buyers seven different trim levels to choose from, along with the option of customizing the engine and options to suit what you need. The 2018 F-150 has best in class towing, payload, and mileage. You’ll also get a host of tech options, including the impressive FordPass app, which allows you to see engine info, fuel levels, unlock/lock your truck, and turn it on or off to get the AC to a comfortable temperature before you get in–all remotely and from your smartphone. The Ford F-150 is the total package.

Is the Ford F-150 Frame Aluminum?

The actual frame of the 2018 F-150 is made of a high-strength steel. The frame is even stronger and more rigid than it was before the redesign in 2015. The aluminum, the high-strength military-grade aluminum alloy that is, comes into play in the cab and bed. This aluminum, the same kind used in military and industrial situations, allows the F-150 to be strong and resilient while making it lighter. A lighter truck means that you can load it up even more and also works to improve fuel economy and efficiency.

Does the Ford F-150 Come in Diesel?

Ford has been hinting at the idea of the F-150 having a diesel option and Ford enthusiasts have been waiting with anticipation. Ford has finally delivered. The F-150 will be available with a diesel engine in late winter/early spring of 2018. A diesel engine, because diesel is a slower burning fuel, generally provides better fuel economy and, when its in a truck, will also give you more pulling power. So, PowerStroke will be available for the 2018 model, but not until the actual 2018 calendar year.
