The Used 2014 Ford Flex is the leading choice among large crossover vehicles. Families appreciate its roomy and comfortable interior. Drivers love its balanced handling and smooth ride. Its unique exterior styling is at once modern and somehow retro. All in all, the Flex offers sturdy utility, modern versatility, and plenty of the latest technology.

to spaciously accommodate either six or seven passengers, and even the backseat has enough room for tall adults to spread out. Its versatility makes it easy to get into the third row. Optional captain’s chairs create space for only six passengers, but increase third-row legroom substantially. With the captain’s chairs in place, Limited drivers can also add a refrigerated middle console that fits up to seven cans.

The base Flex SE is stocked with goodies. Automatic headlights are one less thing that drivers have to worry about. A six-way power driver seat and a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel make it easy for multiple drivers to set up comfortably. The 4.2-inch central display screen helps keep passengers connected to infotainment and safety options like Sync, Ford’s voice control system. Gadget connectivity is rampant, thanks to Bluetooth, a USB port, and an auxiliary audio jack.

The Flex SEL is even bigger on style and comfort. Dual-zone automatic climate control creates a temperate space for all passengers. The infotainment system gets an upgrade from the base Sync to include the MyFord Touch electronics interface, which can be accessed via an 8-inch central touchscreen and two multifunction configurable displays in the gauge cluster. The enhanced Sync features include a video input jack, so the kids can watch movies on long trips, and enhanced steering wheel controls to help drivers keep their eyes on the road.

The Flex comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 that generates 287 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is an option for every trim. All-wheel drivers will need to upgrade to either the SEL or the Limited if they want to add the tow package, which allows the Flex to haul up to 4,500 pounds.

The Ford Flex is big on safety. The Used 2014 model earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s top rating of “Good” for its performance in moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact, and roof-strength tests. The standard Ford Sync system can be paired with a compatible cell phone to automatically dial 9-1-1 in the event of an accident. Parents of teenagers will appreciate the standard MyKey function, which allows them to set audio volume and speed parameters that can’t be broken.

SEL and Limited drivers can add a wide range of safety options. Second-row inflatable seatbelts automatically help support the head and neck during a crash. A rearview camera makes it easy to back into tight spaces. The blind spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alerts lets drivers know whenever a vehicle enters a blind spot. Limited drivers can also choose to take advantage of a collision warning system with brake support to further increase on-road safety.

On the road, the Flex lives up to its reputation for smooth rides and precise handling. The base engine offers plenty of power for towing and around-town driving. The turbocharged V6 means greater overall athleticism and tighter suspension. All powertrains provide responsive steering that makes it easy to drive and park just about anywhere.

Flex Limited

The top-tier Ford Flex is outfitted with a long list of technological innovations and creature comforts. It also offers a wider range of powertrain options, like all-wheel drive and the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine, which produces 362 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. A 110-volt power outlet allows drivers and passengers to keep their devices charged at all times. A power liftgate makes loading and unloading cargo that much simpler. A blind spot warning system and rear cross-traffic alerts helps to keep driver and passengers safe.

The Limited also comes with a bit of extra swag. Xenon headlights and LED headlights give the Flex a modern edge and increase nighttime visibility. The standard navigation system helps drivers get wherever they need to go. The Limited is outfitted with 19-inch wheels and additional chrome/satin aluminum accents so it looks like a top trim both outside and in.
